How would you like to answer the question "How's work?"
The answer can be positive. Let us help.
YOU DON’T HAVE TO STRUGGLE AT WORK ALONE.
Get the support and resources you need for yourself and your workplace.
Here’s how we can help:
ONE-TO-ONE CONFLICT COACHING
— Get personalized coaching to deal with difficult conversations in your workplace such as accommodation, interpersonal conflict, or preparing for mediation. Available in person or online.
WORKPLACE MEDIATION
— Mediation is an effective tool for workplace disputes. It’s collaborative in nature and can help rebuild relationships. It provides a co-created outcome rather than one imposed on the parties, so you have more control over the process and results.
WORKPLACE CONSULTING
— Consulting engagements are available to assess the current level of employee engagement, workplace fairness, job satisfaction, or prevalence of conflict. We can provide support for the implementation of the National Standard of Psychological Health and Safety, the Guarding Minds at Work Survey, or other resources and assessments.
Frequently Asked Questions
If you’ve reached out directly or booked an appointment through this website for conflict coaching, you are responsible to pay for each session upon completion (please reach out to me directly if this is an issue for you). If your employer has requested conflict coaching for you, they will be paying for the sessions.
Mediation is split between the two parties with each paying for their individual coaching sessions, but if you prefer a different arrangement we can establish this in our initial agreement. If your workplace has requested mediation they are responsible for all private sessions and the mediation fees.
Coaching sessions are $175 CAD per hour plus HST. Mediation and workplace consulting depend on a number of factors, so I need some more information from you before I can provide an estimate. Consultations are free and no obligation so let’s start there and see how we can help you. Book one here.
Everyone’s process is different, but I would suggest being prepared to commit to 5-8 individual coaching sessions per conflict. This allows us to really get to the core of what’s making this a challenge for you, and give you enough time to work out and prepare for your desired solution.
Your sessions are completely confidential (subject to a few exceptions). Even if your employer has requested coaching for you, what you say in a session will not be reported to them. We’ll talk about this in our initial session together so everyone is on the same page about what to expect in terms of confidentiality.
With conflict coaching, we’re looking at either a specific situation that you want to work through or how you would typically approach conflict (like what’s stopping you). While it may feel therapeutic (you have someone listening non-judgementally, supporting you, and focused on your goals), we won’t be looking at past issues or other incidents like you would in therapy. It’s a short term process, and we’ll start with your end goal – the specific outcome you’re hoping to achieve.
I hate to break it to you, but conflict coaching is not designed to change someone else! However, you might have insights and work on your own behaviour in such a way that people start to respond differently to you. Part of this work might be to establish what you need and how to ask for it, including setting boundaries and assertiveness.
Conflict coaching and mediation are not designed to be a punishment for someone – it’s not an adversarial process (like going to court) and should not be used as discipline. These are options that are designed to be collaborative and help you create your desired outcome.
Both conflict coaching and mediation are voluntary, and I will never force anyone to go through a process they don’t want to. Hesitation or resistance can be a part of the process and I encourage you to share your expectations and experience of how things are working for you.
